My favorite game since February 2022
I played this for the first time on the Dice Tower Cruise (board gaming cruise) in 2022. I loved it. Gameplay: You start off with your own individual deck. You draw a hand, you pay for cards to keep, then discard the rest. You pay to play them, this will give you resources to buy more cards or take powerful actions to score more victory points. If you can create an engine where one card can give you resources, then the next card to utilize said resources to take another action, that’s a fun good feeling. I would not say this is a game for beginners in the modern board game hobby. There would be a steep learning curve if you’re brand new. I would say that if you played Wingspan, then this is a good stepping stone game to try out. If you’re already aware of board-gaming lingo, I would define this as an individual player variability, engine-building, resource management, worker placement game.

Great game with lots of rules!
The rules of the game takes some time to learn, but the game play is very fun and fluent. I really like the diversity that comes with the base game! Recommend for players with some board gaming experience.

Great Engine Building Game
This game may have made it into my top 5 favorite board games. It is an engine building game, similar to Res Arcana (also a great game). You play cards from your hand that usually stay on the board, and you can tap (exhaust) them to activate an ability (usually) once per turn. The decks are preconstructed, so you don't have to worry about the cards' synergy within each deck. Towards the end of each game, players will be able to complete massive and rewarding combos. While this game is not 'heavy', is probably best for intermediate gamers. There are a lot of symbols and subtle rules that take some getting used to. But once the players get it down, the experience is very rewarding. Beginning gamers should be fine too, but they should find themselves intrigued enough to learn the rules and mechanics. I guess it takes about 10-15 minutes to explain enough to get started.Overall, I love this game and highly recommend it for gamers who like medium complexity games.

First time with this type of game.
I am having a blast learning this game. I have figured out how to comfortably play two-player, as if it was a cooperative game, which it is not, but it is not the winning that is important to me, it is the journey of learning how to play, use my mind, think, and have fun. As a senior of 74, all alone, it becomes imperative to use the brain. This is a good game for that. To be honest, it took me a week to get all the rules and such down, but so what. I just started the solo scenarios and I can really see how one must have a good grasp of the base game. At some point I will probably get one of the expansions, probably Roman Banners,

Fun with variety!
I picked this game up after seeing some recommendations, and I am very glad I did. I typically enjoy card games and engine building games. It's much like the city-building component of Machi Koro or Everdell with light worker placement. There are 6 different clans to choose from, which can give your gameplay a different experience several times over. Empires of the North is pretty easy to learn and not a super lengthy game (maybe 60-ish minutes for 2 players). My husband and I love it, and I'm already looking at the other Imperial Settlers games!

Beautiful game, with different score markers
I really like this game. We played it 1 time this week, and I noticed that the scoring markers should have pictures on them for each clan. I didn’t got it, am I missing something? Stickers or anything like it?

Great
This is a cute game. It's light enough to play as a family ( ages 10+) and will keep every one engaged. With many different ways to earn points it's a game that can be played time and time again without getting dull.

With a easy to understand rule book and many different civilizations to play as this is a great pick. You will want to play this over and over!
