Nelson Wood 8" Pine Shims (Case of 36)

7 13/16 inches long, 1 5/16 inches wide, tapering to 1/4 inch high, these shims do the job well. I ask myself why the sellers of these kind of products cannot correctly describe them, and I provided dimensions for your benefit.

Such an inexpensive, simple item.So many uses.My house is old and settled. There are so many uneven places, and mostly it's no problem. But for things with doors, like refrigerators, it's important to be level. The fridge that was in here when we bought the place had a bad compressor and doors that didn't seal properly after years of standing on uneven ground. Because we're idiots, we didn't figure out for a month or more why the milk wouldn't keep.It wasn't until the new fridge we bought was delivered that the wonderful guys who brought it in told us to level it, unless we wanted it to end up like the one they were taking out. I will never be without shims again.

I added a set of French doors to my den. It opens onto the main hallway and has a large window opposite the den opening. The doors are frosted glass and were bought pre-hung. Of course, the framing was about an inch or less smaller than the den opening so I had to use shims to level the frame so that the doors hung straight. Personally, I had no idea what I was doing but over a few days of work, just a bit a day, I was able to get it level so that the doors work smoothly without rubbing against each other or being (too) uneven. I used the shims or pieces of them to wedge between the frame and the den opening studs just above the hinge screws. Now that it's winter, having doors on the den makes it possible for me to have a "warm room" in the den. The electronics put off enough heat to keep it toasty without running the houses furnace.

Please dont spend 12 dollars on 12 shims. This is a rip off! I ordered this product thinking I was getting the entire box of shims. Instead I received 1 pack. It is also advertised as 14 shims per pack and it is 12 only. So false advertising and upselling. Go by your own box for the same price. NO RETURNS ALLOWED EITHER obviously or this scam wouldn't work.

These wood shims are great for doing crafts. I have made all kinds of panels out of them with mixed media and hot glue. Give a kid a box of these and some glue and let them have a wonderful afternoon indoors on a rainy day!! They can be stapled together with a desk stapler and thin staples. You can cut the ends with scissors. They are paintable and stainable. This isn't something a kid would even have on their radar. Makes great ramps for hot wheel cars. The uses as a toy are endless.

these pieces of wood do the trick. I mean if you need to shim something , what better than a piece ofwood in the shape of a wedge, wow, if I had to shim something again I would buys these, unlessmaybe I had a scrap piece of wood shaped like a wedge.
