Avana Mattress Elevator - 5-Inch Size - Gentle Incline Under Mattress Support, 5", King

I have degenerative joint disease all over my body that causes lots of pain whether on my side or back, as well as GERD, asthma and heart issues that makes it difficult to lay flat, so I use a wedge under my upper body to be higher than my legs and feet. After visiting family over the holidays I knew my hybrid mattress was bad!! We bought a new memory foam mattress & metal support frame with wood slats (for extra support), exactly like the family member has. Although it was much better I was still having issues being comfortable with GERD and breathing. I have used the wedge pillows for years, replacing them as needed, but because they were different than my mattress I didn’t sleep well, changing positions frequently all night. Looking for a new wedge pillow replacement, I happened across one similar to this one. After comparing multiple styles and brands I chose to buy this one in the 5” height.“ (I have a 7.5” half wedge pillow and it’s not comfortable to sleep on because I slide down it.) I was so excited when we got the whole bed set up; the 14” high frame, the full length 5” wedges (2-pieces…easier to position and lift), the new 10” mattress, a 3” pressure point pain relief gel pad, and the bed covers. My husband looked at it snd asked, “how are you going to get up there?” 😳 I used my exercise step platform! It was the perfect angle for my whole body, and best of all my upper body was resting against the mattress pad…ahhhh, so comfortable! 😴 I will never settle for a half wedge pillow under my upper body as long as these type mattress elevator wedges are available. Thank you to whoever came up with this idea!!!😁

Got this for heartburn issues after surgery. The foam is sturdy and stays in place. I didn't notice any smell after set up and the height is as described. Set up was a bit tricky since the foam sticks to fabric so you definitely need a helper. Overall, it looks great and feels great.

I called the seller with a question which she answered. I love this product and would recommend it if your head needs to be elevated.

I was recently diagnosed with a health condition and had been advised to raise the head of my bed. I played around with some blocks first, to see what sort of height I could tolerate. I landed on the 5" wedge, just in case the 7" was too uncomfortable. Someone else pointed out that the actual incline of this wedge is actually 4" though, which is a great point. If you are deciding between the 5" and the 7", keep in mind you are truly deciding between 4" and 6". Someone else suggested they should sell a more buildable add-on wedge; honestly they should sell just one version, but with layers so you can decide how thick you prefer it.I didn't see any instructions related to unboxing this - I wasn't sure if I should let the foam sit out for a while before putting my mattress on top, but I measured it right after unrolling and it measured exactly as noted in the product description (1" on low end / 5" on high end). I ended up putting it in place a few hours after unrolling, but don't think it ever got any bigger over time.I disagree with other reviewers that your mattress pad should simply cover this. I have a good quality mattress pad that covers my mattress without any issue, but there was zero chance I could stretch it to ALSO include this wedge. I don't love that you can see this wedge when looking at the bed. It makes me want to get a King Size comforter for my queen size bed, just so it will hang down low enough to cover it. Not a deal-breaker, but worth mentioning.

I was somewhat skeptical regarding the quality and functionality of this product.I am very surprised and happy, it works well, I finally have relieve.Instead of ordering the cover for the mattress elevator, which is overpriced, and having to try to get the mattress elevator into the cover after washing, I decided to use a queen size flat sheet and enveloped the mattress elevator in it (for the twin bed).

After trying wedge pillows for combating gastric reflux over 4 years I found this on Amazon. It came nicely packaged with shrink wrap, looks good under the mattress, but required 2-3 strong people to install under my king size mattress. Fortunately it comes in 2 pieces making it less difficult to do so but I would not recommend it for a king bed. Probably should’ve ordered the 7” instead of 5,” but that much incline would not be advisable due to slippage.

The riser is made from a material which keeps my mattress from shifting off of it. I am really impressed by the materials in it and the reasonable price. If purchased locally it would have cost about 50% more.

I was very happy with these wedges for 6 months. I started developing swollen legs in the morning from upper thighs through my calves, which went away during the day. It took a month for me to suspect the foam wedges and removed them from between the mattresses. The next morning I did not have swollen legs. I have no idea if this is unique to me or a common side issue.
