New rear case works like it should.
I was a victim of the famous pump rub hole! Couldn't see the hole from the bottom, but leak just kept getting worse. Finally purchased this rear half an was able to install it yesterday. The 1st half I rcvd was in bad shape due to shipping, seller offered to refund me or send me another one, I decided to try it again. Shipping was faster than expected the 1st time and equally fast the second. Price was great, shipping was great and part fit well. The installation went pretty well, the toughest part is the snap ring to separate and install the rear cover, make sure you have transfer case as level as possible some good snap rings and patience....lol

Nice Part - See Installation Tip
This is a very nicely made casting. I changed this part during my NP-246 transfer case rebuild not due to the oil pump wearing a hole in the casting which is a typical problem with this transfer case, but because of the wear and slop in the sector-shaft hole that is cast in to this part. When I went to install this new rear case half, the new Rear Output Shaft Rear Bearing would not fit into the bore of the new rear case half. I then tried fitting the old bearing into the case, and it would not fit either. Both the new bearing and the old bearing fit into the old rear case half, so I knew it was not a problem with the dimensions of the bearings. After trying for quite a while to get these parts to fit together, I contacted the seller through Amazon and let them know that I was having a problem with this. They replied back quickly and suggested that occasionally, there could be a burr in the casting that can be removed with light sandpaper. Additionally they said that they had found that if the parts were being assembled in very cold temperatures, the aluminum casting shrinks enough that the bearing will not fit into the casting. I was working in 40 DEGF temperatures. (They also offered to refund my purchase or replace the part.)They suggested heating up the casting to normal room temperature (while leaving the bearing cold) would allow the casting to expand enough to allow the bearing to fit into the boss that it goes into. I used an electric 1500 Watt heat gun to heat up the aluminum casting until it was hot to the touch, especially in the area where the bearing is located, applied some automatic transmission assembly lube to the bearing, and the parts slid right together. So the problem was that the new rear housing had shrunk due to the cold temperatures I was working in (and of course aluminum shrinks more in the cold than the steel of the bearing does). So if you go to install this part, and the bearing will not go into the bore, try heating up the casting. This also works well if you have to remove the rear case half again after you discover that you left that great big snap ring out of the case when you assembled it. Don't ask me how I know that. Anyhow, the transfer case is all reassembled and back in to the 99 Suburban and is working great. I took one star off of the overall rating only because if the seller had included this installation tip with the part, it would have saved me about a day and all kinds of aggravation. But this is a very nicely made part. Everything else on it was perfect.

highly recommend
First thing that happened was it arrived 4 days earlier than expected, which was perfect timing. It fit just like it was supposed to, everything lined up, didnt have to modify anything. Extremely happy

This fixes the drip and saves components!
Well made, well machine. Bolted right up. Also purchased the pump upgrade kit. Had a pinhole in the original back half, don't see that happening again! The original was on a 2000 GMC Sierra SLE. Highly recommend for high-mileage transfer case.

Bearing does not fit
I heated the case to 250 degrees in the oven and put the shaft and bearing in the freezer but still could not get it fully seated. I ended up grinding out the housing with a Dremel to get it to fit.

Exactly whats needed for np246 pump-rub hole
Had the common problem with these cases, the pump rub. This replacement case half is just what was needed to alleviate the issue, combined it with the case saver as an added protection.
