Complete Accordion Method – Piano and Button Accordion Instruction | Beginner to Advanced Technique Guide with Online Audio | Hal Leonard Music Method Book for Students

I play other instruments but just wanted to pick up the accordion. I had high hopes for this book based on the review. However, this book is not for beginners. It doesn't provide basic illustration to help you understand the accordion, no teaching of the bass keys structure or hand position, playing techniques, etc. Maybe more advanced players will like this book but it's not for a complete beginner.

As a beginner I had hoped that this would help me with learning the Chromatic Button Accordion (CBA) but alas it just has some songs with fingering and the overall progression of the book is slow, focusing too much on musical note scales and not on learning or approaching songs or playability of the instrument.

This is more than an accordion method. This is a musical education with great pieces by modern standards and covers Musette, Calypso, Jazz, Blues, Tango, Bossa-Nova, Classical and more. Ricard Galliano is one of the great musicians of the 21st century.

Good download of examples to mobile. Music is interesting and give you a chance to learn some of the bass notes and some real tunes in the book if I ever get that far. I started out with "Initiation a L'Accordion" Manu Maugain which was great but in French but included videos. The Richard Galliano book was also in French at the time and around £30 with no video so didn't buy but now it is £12.99 or about's it's a steal and translated into English. If you are still learning and CBA, for the 3 - 4 proper tunes it's worth it but even for PA it has got to be worth it at this price.
