Garbage for my UV-5R
Wanted to add range to my UV-5R, this did worse. I had a pair of the radios set up, mine with this and another original, all settings on them identical with Chirp software. When scanning, the original antenna found many weak signals it was able to pull in, this antenna found none of them. When I put the original antenna back on, then it would pick them up too. Maybe on a FRS channel if I drove out and tried back to back to see if it helped that range, but table tests, it was worse than original. Don't buy.

Very well built.
I am impressed with this antenna in every way. Not only is it much sturdier than the original, it increased the range of my reciever enough for me to clearly pick up three new repeaters that were just out of range before. Very satisfied with the purchase.

Indestructable and cost effective
I love this antenna, its dam near indistuctable. I have been in the Radio industry for over 30 years, I highly recommend this product

Blade antenna for uv-5r
It does offer better range than the stock antenna or the longer whip antenna. We got about 2.5 miles while behind appreciate 300' hill. The durability is still being decided, it seems to be getting week where it bends, it is difficult to determine yet.

Poor fit..would not screw in more then half a turn on the threads contacted seller they assured me this is normal..would not buy it or recommend.do your research!
