VegTrug Wash Raised Bed Planter, Grey, Small

Easy to put together. Good instructions. Very well made. This was the smaller of the two that I bought and I love it. Easy to care for plants and harvest.

Earlier in the year we decided to grow a few vegetables and flowers from seed and saw one of these in a garden centre. Thought I’d check out how much it was on Amazon and surprised it was quite a bit cheaper (at the time) for exactly the same unit direct from the manufacturer, plus there was the choice of grey which suited us better. Well made and easy to assemble, with the bonus of not having to keep bending over to do stuff. The water regulator’s also a handy indicator for when water’s needed.

Although the construction instructions were fairly straight forward when the pieces don't fit together properly you have a problem! Not sure if the wood was slightly warped or what but I couldn't get the 'upper part' (sides & ends) to fit properly which meant the screws going into the ready drilled holes were not securing the wood together properly, were protruding & likely to cause an injury. Despite dismantling & trying various ways it did not fit snugly. Very disinclined to completely dismantle & send back I eventually achieved a small refund from the seller. They were polite & quite helpful but quite slow in responding.

Craftmanship: I am glad I bought mine from Amazon; not a third party seller, as I had mine replaced twice. All 3 planters had wood panels that were completely split (one example given in the photo) and knots that were big with splitting cracks. Other cracks were filled with wood filler. The vegtrug sign was quite differently stamped between each replacement and quite poorly presented. I'm quite dubious about the safety of the grey stain as well, as it did smell very chemically strong, even though the stain was sparce. Made in China. I only gave one star because the design and size is very practical and beautiful. Assembly method and paper instructions seemed OK (I've constructed quite a lot of flat packed furniture) although I never managed to complete putting this planter together. Sturdiness might have been OK if the quality of the wood and workmanship was significantly improved. Amazon customer service were excellent in sorting it out for me and listened and acted upon my feedback.

There are two Veg Trug - Small and Medium. Be assured the small size is enough unless you have a large space.

Looks like very cheap wood used, loads of knots and blemishes on panels.Over priced
