How to Build and Modify GM LS-Series Engines (Motorbooks Workshop) Kindle Edition

I bought this thinking I was going to get good info on how to build and modify an stock LS engine. This just tells about rebuilding the stock engine with maybe some boring of cylinders because of cylinder wall damage. No tables or examples on different size LS engines and how to make different modifications to those different size blocks. If your looking for something that helps you with suggestions on modifications buy something else!

Worthless. Unless you know nothing about engines. Only the simplest and basic of information in this book. It should be titled. Engines 101.

Great book, lots of color photos. Only a few things missing from it that make it not quite perfect. I would have liked a few more torque specs for some of the parts on the long block but overall a great book, and a must have for LS style motors. One note, when rebuilding an LS before installing into the vehicle, MAKE SURE YOU PRIME YOUR OILING SYSTEM through the oil galley ports while you can get to them. I had to get creative with my oil pressure sending unit once the engine was installed because I couldn't access the galley plugs.

This book is awesome. Its a fast read, but it is full of all the detail needed to completely build an engine from a bare block. Color pictures are excellent and everything is explained extremely well. I just finished my LQ4 6.0 build and used this book every step of the way. It has stock applications and everything you need to know to do a "built" engine. Very useful tool

Good general information, however it did leave out a lot of instruction. I've been building engines for may years and had the opertunity to build a ls series engine for a friend. I drew on my experience and from a friend that has a machine shop to complete the build. I'm not putting this book down, it has a lot of good info and worth having in one's collection...

I'm a college student so I've bought a ton of overpriced textbook. I saw this and was like what the hell it's only $20. When it came I fell in love, I've never been much of a reader but as a LSX guy I have yet to put the book down. Very informative and very helpful for anyone new or experienced mechanics.The book is a must for all my LS people.

I would have liked more specific information about intake manifolds and camshaft interactions, but there might not have been a lot of that information available at the time of publication.

I am in the process of doing my first LS2 engine build and I bought this book to help familiarize myself with these engines. This book is full of very useful information about the different engines in the LS family and it is written in a way that is very easy to understand. I highly recommend this book to anyone that is looking to completely rebuild one of these engines, or even just wanting to do a few modifications.

Good guideline for the LS engines. Tons to learn. Only thing I'd hoped for was more details on the typical ls engines ie// 4.8 5.3

by Joseph Potak. He has a most infectious way of writing which makes the book very easy to read. Surprisingly, the new LS engines have been around for over a decade, yet most of us know little about them. I enjoyed every word in this book, and I think you will too. Loaded with the latest technical information for the serious engine builder.
