A handy compact tool to make life easier
I was looking for a tool to cut the back of a kitchen corner cupboard away beneath a sink. The job required me to lay on my back and squeeze into the corner cupboard and cut into 20mm chipboard. Really awkward. I initially searched for a compact corded jigsaw and then stumbled onto this cordless Worx WX 550.2 and thought it looked OK with the option of converting to a reciprocating saw. Price seemed reasonable compared to other options and the battery can be shared with other Worx cordless tools.I have now done the job and the tool was excellent. Powerful, compact and versatile. Being cordless and compact it was easy to manoeuvre as I lay upside down in the cupboard. Didn't really test the battery life but it was still going strong at the end. Might prove a bit heavy for extended use if, as I was, you are using it one handed above your head. For normal use it will be a doddle. The guiding light and dust blower are nice features. The tool came with a selection of blades and I look forward to using it as a recip saw for pruning in the garden.

Does its job and cordless is great
I've been cutting up smallish branches (1 to 3 inch thick) using an old Bosch reciprocating saw, but had brought this for an entirely different purpose for which it hasn't yet been used. The Bosch was fine, but of course had the disadvantages of a trailing cable, but at least I have something to compare the Worx with.Firstly, the Worx does the job, however like cordless drills, the cutting speed varies with the pressure on the power button. I found that with wearing gardening gloves, my finger seemed to slip off the power button so the cutting speed would reduce and I'd have to increase pressure to bring it back up to speed. The Bosch was single speed so this never happened. I should point out that although the Worx is battery powered, there was little, if any, difference in the ability of it to cut compared to the Bosch. The power certainly seems to be there. As to battery life, it never ran out while I was doing the job so I don't know right now (I should mention I've also got a Worx drill so have an additional battery should power fail mid-job).However to balance that is the cordless aspect. I no longer have to get an extension cable out, plug in the saw, keep an eye on where the cable is so I don't cut that, roll up the extension afterwards ... This, it's just slot in the battery, insert the required blade (very easy to do, no tightening nuts with an allen key like the Bosch) and off you go. I have some old stumps in the garden that could have been cut lower, and have earmarked the Worx as the 'man for the job'.At this point I haven't used the Worx as a jigsaw so can't comment on that, but converting from reciprocating saw to jigsaw is simply a press of a button, and I see no reason why it shouldn't function as required.Update March 2021. I have to say that although this tool is great for many jobs, the previously mentioned Bosch is still invaluable. I recently wanted to cut some very low level stumps that were showing above ground level. I removed much of the earth around the stumps so I could get the saw blade into the wood, but found that due to the width of the Worx tool, I couldn't get close enough to the ground to get a good angle on the stump. I therefore had to get the old corded saw out since that doesn't have the lateral wings that the Worx does.I haven't changed my rating since the Worx is still a good product, but as Clint Eastwood once said, 'a man should always know his limitations'. The limitation here is don't expect to use it at a low, i.e. Close to the ground, level.

This tool is well made and performs as good if not better than the best on the market.

The Cutting Edge.
Decided to replace my tools with cordless versions. So after viewing many brands on the Web, I decided to opt for the Worx 18v Jigsaw after reading the reviews. It cut my wood pretty straight and with ease, I tried it with metal also, and again no problems. The ability to change the angle of the head is very useful for cutting small branches etc, it was again a very useful tool. Great not to have trailing leads everywhere!

Perfect multi-tool
So I needed a jigsaw for doing the loft, but I kinda wanted something to tackle the trees in the garden too. This solved the problem as it does both. Not to mention it is cordless, so you can take it anywhere. In the loft it cut through 22mm chipboard like butter, in the garden it took a bit longer getting through much thicker tree branches but still did the job. Comes with a selection of blades, a battery and a battery fast charger.Slowly adding to my Worx collection (Lawn mower, strimmer, vacuum)

Great tool
Very flexible usage, from cutting through an old thick rosebush base to jigsawing laminate boards, it's worked really well. Flicks between the two modes simply and blade-loading couldn't get simpler - I was convinced I was doing it wrong, it clicked in so easily, but the blade is really tightly-held. Great that I can re-use the same batteries from other Worx tools.
